Our Little Cape Cod

Hello Blog Land!

It has once again been quite a while since I have posted. I apologize! I’ve learned that life with a newborn is nothing but busy. I’m reminded daily by my friends and family that these are the times to slow down and soak in all of these memories. I have realized you only get these special moments once with each child and I want to remember them. I’m learning that cuddling with my sweet boy for one morning is more important then doing the laundry that day and that is okay! My Hudson is only 5 months old but it has already gone by so fast. However, I will try to post more regularly… but what can I say…Hudson runs the schedule 🙂

So in light of it being November 22nd already (where has the time gone!?) I have already put away all of my Fall decor and I already have most of our Christmas decorations out…yes I am one of those people who is slightly obsessed with Christmas and everything that it brings! It truly is my favorite time of year. However before I brought out Christmas I decided to snap a few pictures of our home for you to see…..I promise to do a full Home Tour one of these days! But for now hopefully these will suffice.

We finally finished our Tufted King Headboard. This was definitely one of the more challenging DIY projects I have done but one of the most rewarding! When I was looking up how to make our headboard I noticed there were not many tutorials for a King Size headboard so I wanted to make sure that I put ours up. I am working on the whole tutorial and that will be up on the blog soon!

As I mentioned before this is not our whole house, only a few rooms but I promise I will get a full Home Tour up eventually! Thanks for stopping by. Next up our Tufted Headboard Tutorial, Nursery Reveal and some Christmas Decorating Tips & Tricks! Happy Weekend

Fall is Here!

Hello Friends,
What a great week we have had here in Michigan. It is finally starting to feel like Fall. We have such gorgeous summers here but I do have to say that Fall is my favorite season. There is just something magical about the leaves changing color, apple picking, the chilly nights full of football games, bonfires and a good cup of coffee with a pumpkin cookie. Oh my heart!! This past week I have already made pumpkin bread, pumpkin cookies and pumpkin bars…..I may have gone a little overboard but what can I say I was so excited for Fall to start.
With the arrival of Autumn I have started decorating my house for the season. There are lots of white pumpkins, red flannel blankets, bonfires in our backyard and apple cider warming on the stove. I don’t know about you guys but I LOVE when my favorite blogs start doing the Fall Home Tours! Some of my favorites this year are Craftberry Bush , Liz Marie House Seven City Farmhouse and The Nester I will post more pictures of our Fall decorations soon but here is a little snippet of our decor this year.

A few months ago I received a wonderful present from my Hubby that I wanted to show all of you. Meet our Fiddle Leaf Fig. The past two years I have been obsessed with trying to find one of these beauties. This plant is pretty famous in blog land and I was dying to get my hands on one. They are very hard to find in Michigan! But I went to my local greenhouse and they ordered one for me. I am obsessed, it is such a gorgeous plant. Before I got my Fiddle Leaf, I was searching all over for a perfect planter. I was on Young House Love’s blog and spotted this beautiful redish coral planter in the picture below. Believe it or not I could not find one the right color…..(Side note….if you have never looked through John & Sherry’s Showhouse you need to go it is a must see!)

Anyways I found a planter that I really liked at JoAnn Fabrics for $30 but had a 50% off coupon so it only cost me $15. However, it still was not the right color so I also purchased some spray paint. The spray paint I got was Rust-Oleum and the color was “Poppy.”  In about 2 hours the planter was painted and almost dry. I did two coats of the paint to really hide the dark green color. There you go…my take on Young House Love’s planter. Now I just pray that my plant will grow to look as good as their Fiddle Leaf in the picture!

Hudson Theodore

Hello Friends,

It has been a while since I have posted and I apologize for that! But my husband and I welcomed our beautiful baby boy, Hudson Theodore into this world on June 29th. He is probably the most perfect and precious little thing I have ever seen. However, I am sure every mother says that about their baby. 🙂 Becoming a mother has been wonderful but it is definitely an adjustment. I can honestly say I have never been this exhausted. So many people warn you but no one can prepare you for it. The first week was worse then I imagined, all I kept thinking was that I won’t ever get to sleep again. One night Hudson was crying and I woke up thinking I wasn’t sure if I could keep doing this. I couldn’t believe how unbelievably tired I was. As I picked him up from his crib he looked up at me and smiled and it suddenly made everything better. It didn’t matter how tired I was, it didn’t matter that the house was a mess, or that I hadn’t showered in days, I had a perfectly handsome healthy baby boy in my life and that’s all that mattered. I would truly do anything for him. I finally felt like his mother and I loved it.

I look up to mothers so much more now. Becoming a mother makes you appreciate your own mother and mothers everywhere a whole lot more. I am only two months in and I already realize how much you have to do and give up for your child. However, I have realized that motherhood is a wonderful gift from God and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. The Lord has blessed me with a wonderful husband who is such a wonderful father to Hudson. I have loved seeing my husband Ross transition into being a father. My mother always said “When you see how much your husband loves your children, you will love your husband like never before.” That is the truth!

Now that I finally feel like I have a routine down I will be posting on the blog at least once a week! I will be blogging about my DIY projects & DIY fails, decorating our home, and bits & pieces of my journey as a new momma. I have been saving up lots of projects and I can’t wait to share them with you.  But first a few pictures of our sweet baby boy Hudson Theodore…..
